Our Story

The Full Story

To The Pointe-Shoe Store was born from a simple belief: every dancer deserves to feel seen, supported, and properly fitted.

Owner and founder Hannah Grimes has spent her entire life in the dance world. From beginning ballet at just three years old to training pre-professionally under internationally respected instructors, dance has always been more than a hobby—it has been her passion and purpose.  Ballet is her whole personality.

Like many dancers, Hannah dreamed of a professional ballet career. But that dream changed after years of dancing in improperly fitted pointe shoes led to overuse injuries that ultimately ended her career sooner than expected. Instead of walking away from ballet, she turned one of the most difficult experiences of her life into a mission: helping other dancers avoid the same injuries and giving them the knowledge and support she wished she had received.

After earning a degree in Business Finance from William Carey University and an MBA from The University of Southern Mississippi, Hannah relocated to Tupelo for her husband's career and continued teaching ballet. She quickly realized that dancers and families throughout North Mississippi often had to travel hours to find quality dancewear and experienced pointe shoe fitting. More importantly, many dancers were being fit by people with limited training, leaving them vulnerable to discomfort, poor technique, and preventable injuries.

In 2020, Hannah opened To The Pointe-Shoe Store to change that.

What began as a local dance boutique has grown into one of the region's premier destinations for expert pointe shoe fitting. Today, dancers regularly travel from across Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and beyond for Hannah's expertise. To The Pointe has also welcomed dancers from New York, Alaska, Brazil, Honduras, and other locations, making it a trusted destination for families seeking individualized care.

Every pointe shoe fitting at To The Pointe follows our signature fitting process developed with one goal in mind: injury prevention without sacrificing performance. We don't simply match dancers to a shoe—we evaluate foot anatomy, strength, flexibility, alignment, technical ability, training schedule, and long-term goals before recommending the best option. Every fitting also includes education on strengthening exercises, shoe care, and techniques to help dancers dance safely while extending the life of their shoes.

As a Nikolay Certified Pointe Shoe Fitter, Hannah continues pursuing advanced education in pointe shoe technology, ballet biomechanics, and dance medicine. Because the dance world is always evolving, so is our approach.

Today, To The Pointe is much more than a dance store. We are a resource for dancers, parents, teachers, and studios throughout North Mississippi and beyond. Whether you're preparing for your very first dance class, purchasing your first pair of ballet slippers, stepping onto pointe for the first time, or searching for the perfect performance wear, our goal remains the same.

We believe that every dancer deserves expert guidance, exceptional products, and a place where they are treated like family.

Thank you for trusting us to be part of your dance journey. We are honored to celebrate every milestone with you—from first pliés to professional aspirations—and we look forward to helping dancers continue doing what they love for years to come.
